John Clark Matthews is a director and writer, known for the ABC weekend Specials: The Mouse and the Motorcycle series (1986). He also produced and directed many stop-motion films including Frog and Toad (1994), Curious George (1983), Stanley and the Dinoasurs (1996) and many more. While at Sony Imageworks, he was lead animator on the first Stuart Little film (1999) and The Polar Express (2004).- John Matthews was born on 10 November 1926 in Pennsylvania, USA. He was an actor, known for Shock Corridor (1963), Days of Our Lives (1965) and Mandela (1987). He died on 6 September 1991 in Los Angeles County, California, USA.
- Even though he shares his name in common with others John Matthews, this one is definitely special since he only appeared in one movie, which was the classic Sleuth (1972), where he plays a Sergeant. In fact, he does not appear in the movie at all and in fact he doesn't exist. Matthews is a case of credit only so the film producers can play a prank on audiences thinking that the movie has more stars besides Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine.

John said in his book 'Madness on Wheels' that he had been 'trying to match the thrill of driving flat out through a forest' ever since he took to the wheel of a rally car. He loves the movement and fluidity of speed and finds this skiing, mountain biking, sailing as well as flying. John has worked with eight World Champions and races motorbikes in his spare time.
He taught himself to record racing engines using microphones designed for drum session recordings. He also specialises in on-board photography and has done this during the Le Mans 24 hour race as part of a race team. He also filmed stunt pilot Mark Jefferies using his technique. He has filmed high speed skiing, rally driving, touring cars, Le Mans winning cars for Jaguar Heritage Trust and many more.
